Rose Parade Preparations

Here are some pictures of the preparation for the West Covina "Love in Bloom Float". We just showed up and volunteered and left 3 hours early!! This was after Katie, Kevin and Steven took five cookies each and left! I think we might be banned from working on that float again.

It took a while to figure out what we were doing... We were suppose to cut only the dark portions of the roses.

How Sweet it is....

It's good to be a Bruin today. The game was awesome!!! I actually was at the game but had to sit in the 'sc section... that's okay. It's funny, so much smack was talked before the game, like I heard one 'sc fan talk on the phone and say "Yeah, we should be able to meet you for dinner at 5. The game should be a blowout and over by then." To see them sweat at the end of the game and ultimately out of the national championship game: PRICELESS!!!

Thanks Earl for the extra ticket!

Philly CheeseSteaks and encounter with Donovan McNabb

Anthony and I were in Philly the few days visiting Stephen's new place in Landsdale (40 miles outside of downtown Philly). Had to get some Philly Cheesesteaks. That was a given.

Here's reaction from the two places.. and and interview with a local.

We then walked around and noticed a crowd on South Street. Apparently Donovan McNabb was at the store and signing autographs. Though I'm not a huge Eagles fan, I knew my buddy Dieu was and had to get something signed for him. I called Dieu and he was so jealous. I actualy shook McNabb's hand and said "Good Luck with the season" and he said "Thank you". Funny thing along the way... I told him to sign the jersey for my buddy Dieu and I even spelled it out for him.. D-I-E-U... but somehow McNabb spelled it E-I-D-U... Oh well... At least he got all the letters right...

New Zealand 2006

I finally got a chance to take my vacation to a place I always want to go - South Island of New Zealand. This time no work at all. But then you probably ask, "Don't all your trips like a vacation anyway ? wasting our tax-payers money ?" ... oh well

800+ pictures, 2000 Kilometers, and 13 days later, I finally on my way to complete my long and enjoyable trip to the south island of NZ. I am glad that I have a chance to take this trip especially with the the generous help of Uncle Sam. I think NZ is a great country. I am impressed with the people particularly. They are nicer than nice, friendlier than friendly. I felt like I am one of the Kiwi among this warmth and welcome island. The country nature sceneries are spectacular to put it mildly. Seem like everywhere you go, all you see are green grass, trees with the majestic mountains on the background along with thousand and thousands of lambs going through their slow pace of easy life style. And then the colorful coastline filled with massive of blue and light blue hue crystal clear water. I don't remember how many times I stopped just to glare out at this blue-hue water that seem to stretch out to the end of the earth.

Looking back, I have done and seen lots of stuffs that I probably won't be able to do anywhere. especially the galcier walk and whale-watching. I enjoy almost all the places I stopped by. At the tail end of this trip, I am feeling a bit of tired with the many thousand kilometers I have put on. So I just want to get back home where all the 'familiarties' are there like sleeping on the same bed instead of the 10+ motels I stayed at. Now, I am back to where I belong but that is fine. You need to get out sometime. Yo'all should get out here ! I am just glad that I have a chance to GET OUT this time !

Anyway, check out the picts at,

(2 albums there, my recommendation is to use the 'slide view' to see them).

Bay Area Trip

Jeanette and I decided to fly up north for the weekend. First stop was dinner w/ Minh, Mylan and Duc at my restaurant in San Jose....=)

Eating for "three"

The next morning we woke up early and drove up to San Francisco. We rented bikes and biked across the Golden Gate Bridge over to Sausalito (8 miles). It was quite chilly and cold thruout the entire ride.

Stopping at a vista point to take some photos

This way towards Sausalito -->

My Floyd... ummh, I mean Lance pose...

We were short on time so we decided to take the Ferry back to SF. Here we are waiting behind 180 Japanese tourists on the same ferry.

Once we returned the bikes (1 pm) we were headed to Napa. Apparently we under-estimated the amount of time it would take and we didn't get there until 3pm. Why were we headed to Napa? For the wine? Ummm.. no.. for the Mud Bath and Body Wrap of course!!!

It was definately an experience like no other. It was genuine 100% mud. It was thick and guey and warm at the bottom. It was like being trapped in quicksand. It was quite relaxing as I think my pores exfoliated... (I don't even know what that means!)

Here we are for our "body-wraps". Basically you are wrapped in a warm blanket with cold towels place on your forehead and nect and you go to sleep for 20 mins listening to elevator music.

By the time we left the facilities it was 5 pm and all the wineries had closed for the day. Apparently this is discourage reckless drinking in the evening

We then drove to Sacramento (not sure which direction we went. we had a portable gps that we followed since i'm so good with maps and directions...) to visit Jeanette's friends (Heather and Darren) from residency. We had a nice cooked home dinner and the best appetizers. (Portabello mushrooms in basalmic vinegar and butter server on lightly toasted bread. I think I can make this!)

Here's a picture of Jeanette and their daughter Lily!

We didn't get back to our hotel in Rancho Cordova until 11 pm. The next morning we got up at 6 AM and ran an easy 8 miles on one of the trails that Jeanette use to run while she was in residency.

For some reason I had a craving for crepes and we met up with her friend Susane from residency.

It was an awesome trip and we did so much in two days! Too bad we had to fly back down so soon... Here are the entire set to photos from the trip

Introducing "Pho-gurt"

In a quest to find the perfect yogurt, four kids gathered in a super-secret location somewhere in Los Angeles. Led by head chef, Jen-master and her two soux chefs: Condensed-milk girl and Water-Stirrer girl. And we cannot forget the head-taster, Spongy-Underwear Boy

Soux chefs at work... (Stirring hot water???)

Head-chef Jen-master carefully measures the ingredients.

Undergoing vigorous testing by Spongy-Underwear Boy

As far as how it tastes, it's still a work-in-progress... This is not your typical lemonade stand, it's much bigger, it's bigger than PinkBerry.. It's PHO-GURT!!! Opening soon in San Jose, Miami, Los Angeles, Valencia, and our new location Bangkok Thailand...

Pinkberry - Continued...

After trying "Khanh-berry", we all decided to drive out to West Hollywood for the real-thing...

Waiting in line for 20 minutes...

Steven has a frown because the doesn't have the Pinkberry in his hand.

We got two plain Larges (w/ three toppings each) - $7/each

5 mins later....
